Enrolment & Cancellations:

  • Post registration the membership is for full term and you will need to pay the full term fee; to ease out the burden on parents, fee is collected in August for the first 16 weeks and Then in January for next 16 weeks.
  • Payment should be made in full for the term on or before the first lesson.
  • If full payment for each 16 week block is not received within 28 days from the notification from the club, an admin fee of 500 HKD will be charged.
  • Mid-term admissions are allowed and fees will be prorated for the remainder of the term.
  • One trial class will be given to new students only. For each subsequent lesson, term fees will apply.
  • Prolonged absence (more than 4 classes missed) due to emergency circumstances/medical reasons need to be notified to the club through an email with evidence to kids.dbsmashers@gmail.com and will be considered on a case to case basis for fee refunds
  • Cancellation of class due to weather, health restrictions, pitch closures will be compensated with add on sessions. No refunds will be issued.
  • Season: A season is counted from the date of notification of team submission from Cricket Hong Kong (usually second week of July) and will end post the last match of that age group/30th April of every year, whichever is later. The club will notify parents on commencement and end dates of season.
  • No refunds will be provided for children withdrawing from a term after a season commences. DB Smashers supports growth of children and allows freedom of movement to other clubs of choice although in line with CHK norms, these transfers are permissible only post completion of the season. Mid-season transfers are allowed only on exceptional basis and post clearance from cricket Hong Kong

Practice Sessions

  • Children should convene at the venue notified 15 mins prior to the lesson.
  • Parents will be required to pick up the students from the same venue when class ends.
  • DB Smashers coaches/staff/parent volunteers are not responsible for minding children before/after the lesson.
  • DB Smashers training kit (T shirt, short) must be worn to all sessions for the comfort of children.
  • Cricket Hong Kong organized matches require match whites to be worn mandatorily.

Equipment

  • Abdomen guards (groin guards) are mandatory for all age groups. Kids will not be allowed to participate in the lesson without it
  • All leather ball group kids will require the full protective equipment and bat.
  • The club has spare bats available for trials and coaches can advise on bat types and ideal weight and kids are expected to purchase a proper bat as soon as possible
  • Parents have to ensure that the kids have a complete set of protective gear before introducing a kid to leather ball. Light weight pads, Thigh pad, Abdomen guard, Gloves, helmet and a proper sized/weight bat is a must. Chest guard and Elbow guards are optional although recommended for u13 onwards.

Code of Conduct

  • DB Smashers abide by ICC regulations on conduct as well as playing conditions/code of conduct/anti-harassment policies of Cricket Hongkong notified from time to time. They are included in the links below

  • Parents/players should make themselves aware of the Code of behaviour and Anti harassment policies and by signing this membership form provide agreement to adhere to them.
  • The club has zero tolerance to discriminatory behaviour and is strictly against harassment/bullying/physical/verbal abuse of any kind. Complaints of this nature should be reported promptly to kids.dbsamshers@gmail.com and will be referred to Cricket Hong Kong promptly.
  • DB Smashers Cricket Club reserves the right to remove a student/parent/coach from a lesson, a term, or the entire season for behaviour considered unacceptable/contrary to the spirit of the listed codes above (no credit/refund will be offered for the remaining sessions).

Weather disruptions/Class cancellation

HK weather is mercurial during the majority of the year. We follow the below rules.

For training, a weather call is taken 2 hours prior to all training sessions and parents are informed through designated WhatsApp groups.

  1. Typhoon signal T8 and above, Red/Black Rain Storm Warning, Amber Rain Storm with Lightning Warning will cause a cancellation of the classes. This will be confirmed 2 hours prior to training through designated
  2. For other rainy days then listed in point 1 above, we make use of HK Observatory Radar which provides predictions for weather 90 minutes in advance. If the weather is expected to clear up, we will go ahead with the session and the same will be informed to parents through designated WhatsApp groups.
  3. If a lesson is on as scheduled, regardless of the weather conditions, if you choose not to attend, no credit/refund will be given.
  • Ultimately, however, parents should always use their own discretion as to whether or not they want their child to attend a training session.
